Why Eating Organic Could Be The Best Health Choice for your Hormones

Why eat organic?

It’s a super important question with a range of crucial health answers.

See non-organic foods can come in close contact with a range of nasties…

Pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, insecticides.

And these take a toll not just on our environment but on the very fabric of our biology:

The can hurt humans.

For example, insecticides (including organophosphates) are neurotoxins designed to kill insects…

But they’ve been shown to hurt us, too.

Sadly, as the CSIRO notes, “Organophosphates are still widely used in agriculture in Australia even though many have been banned in the EU, and banned or restricted in the USA.”

The study Pesticide use and incident diabetes among wives of farmers in the Agricultural Health Study found a significant link between organochlorines and diabetes…

An article in the journal Diabetic Medicine noted that “Environmental pollutants, especially pesticides [are linked] to the development of insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes… the effects of pesticides on glucose metabolism are too significant for a possible diabetogenic link to be dismissed.”

Research published in the Environmental Health Perspectives journal stated that increased chemical exposure can increase the risk of obesity by changing how our fat cells differentiate and by negatively impacting our brain’s hunger centres.

It’s scary stuff!

By choosing organic foods (and home and personal products) we can lessen our toxic exposure and protect ourselves from their harmful effects.

Been following a healthy food plan with ample fruits and vegetables?

  • Decreased chances of developing type 2 diabetes
  • Better balanced cholesterol levels

Health-giving antioxidants are found in foods like blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries, blueberries, Kiwi fruit and cherries, plums, eggplant, and kale…
