Is there such thing as healthy Nutella??
The European sweet sensation, Nutella was a huge part of my growing up, I used to eat it with a spoon. Little did I know how much C.R.A.P. (processed carbs, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, processed ingredients) was in it and how it contributed to my girl-ish figure I wasn’t so happy with at the time.
Even though I don’t eat it anymore, every now and again I still have a craving for it, especially when it come to deciding a topping for my healthy protein crepes. YUM!
This home-made version is free of nasties, preservatives, sugar and gluten. Yes, even Nutella contains gluten!
Keep in mind that 1 tablespoon per day is enough, as nuts are very calorie sense and the extra calories can creep up on you!
- 1 cup hazelnut butter*
- 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of sea salt
- Mix all ingredients together and store in an air tight container.
*If you can’t find hazelnut butter you can make it at home with a food processor or high power blender like the Vitamix!
