I’ve consulted a number of women recently who suffer from a little-known condition called oestrogen dominance (OD)…
And, as this diagnosis has been missed by the health practitioners these women have seen before me, I want to reach out and make sure it’s not causing you problems, too…
Because as an expert who helps women get a body they love, I often see OD make it harder to shed unwanted fat.
Firstly, let’s take a look at some common signs and symptoms…
They might just ring some bells for you:
- Bloating and digestive problems like constipation and altered bowel movements
- Changes in the menstrual cycle
- Fertility issues
- Increased body fat
- Lumpy or tender breasts
- Mood swings
- Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
- Trouble sleeping
- Water retention
Plus, health challenges like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis and uterine fibroids are also considered oestrogen dominant conditions, so if you have these and are struggling with an unswerving increase in your body fat mass, then this article will help!
Secondly, what can you do to address OD?
I’m glad you asked!
1) Add fibrous foods
Fibrous foods are great for your gut health and this helps excretion of excess oestrogen.

2) Indulge in exercise
A study in the Journal of Applied Physiology revealed that when women exercised for 300 minutes per week at 80–85% of their max, they dropped their total oestrogen exposure by 18.9%.
3) Brassica veggies anyone?
Brassica vegetables are wonderful for aiding oestrogen detoxification with their high levels of a compound called indole-3-carbinol.
Think broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, and cabbage.
Anti-oxidants are key compounds for the body’s detoxification process, including for liver detoxification which is essential for removing excessive oestrogen.
My Turmeric and Coconut Cauliflower Rice combine a crucial member of the brassica family with the potent antioxidant properties of turmeric and it tastes great!
5) Choose carefully
A typical source of excess oestrogen comes from our environment.
Whether through the foods we consume, bathroom, cleaning, and cosmetic goods, or the use of common oral contraceptive pill preparations, exposure is everywhere.
To tackle this, educate yourself…
And then choose both the products you purchase and what you put in your body, very carefully.
The wonderful news is that it is completely possible to restore hormonal balance and reverse oestrogen dominance with the right approaches and these five tips can make a massive difference.
