9 Commonly Missed Signs That Your Liver Needs a Reset

Have you ever given much thought to your incredible liver?…

Have you ever given much thought to your incredible liver?

This large organ sits under the right side of your rib cage and is always super busy keeping you well!

Did you know your liver is intimately involved in…

Bile production

Bile is involved in the breakdown and absorption of fats and cholesterol, and despite what you may have been told, these nutrients are very much needed for health.

Carbohydrate metabolism

Your liver stores carbs as glycogen.

When you need a glucose boost to restore healthy blood sugar levels, glycogen is broken down and released, meaning your liver is crucial for healthy energy maintenance.

Vitamin storage

Your liver stores the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K, as well as B12.

This helps ensure we don’t simply run out.

Blood filtration

Our liver filters out toxins including excess hormones like oestrogen and aldosterone.

I often talk with clients about the health issues that come from oestrogen dominance and how this hormonal imbalance can negatively impact on the ability to achieve and maintain a lean body so a healthy, working liver is key.

While this isn’t all that our wonderful liver does, and symptoms often take years to manifest, here are 9 commonly missed signs that your liver is struggling to cope…

1) Unexplained fatigue

2) Weakness

3) Nausea

4) Dark urine

5) Bruising easily

6) Constipation

7) Pain in the upper right abdomen

8) Yellowing of the skin and eyes (called jaundice)

9) Appetite loss

What if you have several signs and symptoms?

While these problems may also be experienced with other health challenges if you have a range of signs and symptoms plus one of these challenges…

  • High alcohol consumption
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Infections of the liver (like hepatitis C)
  • Prior exposure to certain toxins, and
  • Are middle-aged or older…

Then possible liver involvement is important to consider.
